Client: Staffordshire Police

Job title:
New Single Non Emergency Number campaign

The picture before

In an emergency in the UK you call 999 but in a non-emergency, different police forces use a particular 0845 number as was the case with Staffordshire Police in 2009. Ofcom subsequently ruled that police forces and other emergency services should utilise an 0300 non-emergency number in order to ensure that the cost of calling in a non emergency was the same for everyone whether calling from landline or mobile.

Impact

As Staffordshire residents, we did a lot of research to understand what interaction, if any, people had with the police. We wanted to understand how we could make a difference and really make this campaign work. We worked very closely with the communications team and the Citizen’s Panel and ‘dug deep’ to understand what was required to ensure this was a total success.
